Town of Qu'Appelle Seeking an Assistant Public Works Foreman
The Town of Qu'Appelle is seeking a hard-working individual to join our team as the Assistant Public Works Foreman. This position is 40 hours per week, including on call rotation. The Town of Qu'Appelle offers a competitive Pension and Group insurance Benefits package.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant, and water distribution system and ensure that water systems are in optimal working order.
- Maintain and operate the wastewater system including lift station and lagoon and ensure that both are in good repair and properly maintained - daily checks/record pump operations and add chemicals as required.
- Maintain, operate and perform lab analysis for the water treatment plant and wastewater system as required by Water Security Agency Regulations.
- Perform daily, weekly and annual routine and preventative maintenance and repairs, as well as providing documentation, record generation, and retention required to satisfy operational requirements and Water Security Agency Regulations.
- Assist in the installation and repair of water mains, water meters, and service connections.
- Read water meters as required.
- Maintain and service Fire hydrants, flush water lines, and inspect/maintain valves, etc.
- Maintain manholes and culverts.
- Respond to consumer complaints and turn the water on/off at residences, as required.
- Ensure that graveled roads are maintained and in good repair i.e. potholes, frost boils, etc.
- Ensure that maintenance equipment is in good repair.
- Cut grass and trees onTown Property as required.
- Ensure culverts, signs and sidewalks are in good repair.
- Clear and remove snow, as required.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Public Works Foreman, Town Administrator, or Town of Qu'Appelle Council
Preferred Qualifications
- MUST have a valid driver's License. Preference given to those with a valid air endorsement.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure and the delivery of services.
- Experience in operating backhoe, tractor, grader and gravel truck would be an asset.
- Energetic, self-motivated, enthusiastic, team player, and highly professional with superior judgement.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the public, contractors, and coworkers.
Educational Requirements
- High School Graduation or equivalent.
- Preference will be given to applicants with the following education:
- Water Treatment and Water Distribution Class 1 Certification
- Wastewater Collection and Treatment Class 1 Certification
