Convention resolutions are one way SUMA members can get their issues to the forefront. As per SUMA's Resolutions Policy, resolutions can be submitted anytime during the year.
The deadline to submit a resolution for Convention 2026 is January 31, 2026.
After concerns were raised by members about late resolutions and the inability for councils to discuss these resolutions in advance, only those resolutions that are absolutely critical and could not possibly have been included in the Convention package will be brought forward after the deadline, and only then with justification for why it is both urgent and emergent. Any other late resolutions will be considered by SUMA's Caucuses after Convention.
Once the resolution deadline has passed and resolutions have been approved by the Board of Directors, the Resolutions Package will be posted on this page. We encourage you to download and review the Resolutions package with your council in advance of Convention to be as prepared as possible for debate and voting in the Resolutions Session.
