City of Moose Jaw Seeking a Director of Economic & Community Development
The Director of Economic and Community Development leads long-term Economic viability, community growth, land use planning, development services, and permitting. This foundational role integrates economic growth, investment attraction, and municipal planning for development and business expansion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide strategic leadership, staff supervision, budget oversight, and an operational direction for a multidisciplinary team across planning, economic development, permitting, and building services
- Serve as senior strategist for economic growth, expanding the tax base, advancing downtown revitalization, supporting business retention and attracting private capital
- Promote the City to investors and developers, business partnerships and lead high-level negotiations
- Lead land use planning, OCP administration, zoning bylaws, subdivision approvals, and building inspection in compliance with provincial legislation
- Collaborate across departments and levels of government to secure funding aligned with strategic priorities
- Senior representative in public consultations, council reporting, media inquiries, and Municipal Board hearings
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University degree in Economic Development, Urban Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Community Development, or related. Masters degree an asset
- 10 years of management experience, preferably municipal
- MCIP and RPP membership considered an asset
- Class 5 Drivers License and vehicle
- Knowledge of the Planning and Development Act, Zoning Bylaws, OCP and land development processes
- Proven track record in strategic foresight, market analysis, financial oversight and complex issue resolution
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities
Salary: $140,904 to $176,148
