Bianca obtained a Bachelor of Science Specializing in Immunology and Infection from the University of Alberta before attending Thompson Rivers University, Faculty of Law. After being called to the Alberta Bar in 2019, Bianca began her career as a Crown Prosecutor with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service in Edmonton, gaining extensive trial, advocacy, and negotiation experience.

Bianca joined Brownlee in 2023 and is now an associate in the Business Services Group, with a practice spanning corporate, commercial, real estate, and municipal and public sector law. She regularly advises municipalities and regional authorities on governance and structural matters, including corporate and governance restructuring for municipal and regional bodies, and other complex regulatory questions facing the municipal sector.”

Janelle Butler, Lawyer, Brownlee LLP

Jenelle Butler is a partner in the Edmonton office and is a member of the Labour & Employment Practice Group. Jenelle practices in the areas of Labour & Employment Law, Human Rights Law, and Education Law. She is called to the Alberta, Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories bars. Along with the rest of the Labour & Employment team, Jenelle strives to provide clients with the practical skills and tools to manage risks and avoid human resource problems before they arise, and helps clients find positive outcomes in disputes, including litigation, arbitrations, and complaints at various administrative tribunals. Jenelle acts as counsel for employers across Alberta at all levels of court, and appears before a number of administrative tribunals including the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and the Canada Industrial Relations Board.

John McDonnell, Corporate/Commercial Practice Area Leader, Brownlee LLP

John provides corporate governance advice to municipal and other public sector bodies, and also assists private businesses and corporate clients with their various business and legal needs. In his municipal practice, John advises public sector clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters, including helping clients collaborate on partnerships for the regional provision of services. Advising municipalities and other public sector clients makes up a major part of John’s practice.

Paul Stocco, Partner, Brownlee LLP

Partner Paul Stocco, formerly practice group leader of Brownlee’s Construction Group, focuses on construction litigation and procurement, representing owners, general contractors and sub-contractors at all levels of Court in Alberta and Ontario, and has appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada. Paul assists clients in drafting procurement documents, including tendering and requests for proposals (RFP) documents, construction management, consulting, design build, integrated project delivery, building information modelling, lump sum, and public-private partnership (P3) agreements. He also assists clients with builders’ liens, performance bonds, and labour and material payment bond claims. Paul is an alumni board member of various construction industry organizations. He writes and lectures widely on all aspects of construction and procurement law.
