Thank you to everyone who attended the SUMA Regional Roadshow! Between June 9 and 25, SUMA traveled across Saskatchewan, visiting each of the province’s eight regions to connect directly with members in their own communities. Meeting Recap

Each meeting began with a SUMA Update where staff brought updates from within the organization, including our major advocacy issues from the past year, progress on resolutions, and a discussion around the caucus governance structure, which has now been in place for a little over a year. SUMA has committed to a full governance review before the next municipal election, but we wanted to check in with our members and get feedback on the process and implementation so far. This helps us make any necessary small adjustments to ensure that the caucuses are running smoothly and meeting the needs of our membership.

Urban Spotlight, a staple at SUMA member meetings and one of SUMA's favorite sessions, gave municipalities a chance to take centre stage and share what makes their community special. Representatives introduced their municipality, recognized those attending on its behalf, and highlighted recent successes they were proud to celebrate. From major community projects and infrastructure improvements to local events and volunteer-led initiatives, members shared inspiring examples of the work taking place in municipalities across Saskatchewan. These stories not only celebrated local achievements but also provided an opportunity for attendees to learn from one another and leave with new ideas and perspectives.

Municipal tours provide a unique and valuable addition to Regional Meetings, an experience that attendees can only enjoy by joining us in person! These tours provided members with the opportunity to see firsthand the projects, facilities, and attractions that help shape and strengthen communities across Saskatchewan. Throughout the Regional Roadshow, host municipalities proudly showcased a variety of local assets, including museums, leisure centres, infrastructure projects, and popular tourist attractions. The tours highlighted the innovative work taking place in communities of all sizes and gave attendees an opportunity to learn from one another's successes, exchange ideas, and gain inspiration to bring back to their own municipalities.

Education sessions continued to be a key component of the Regional Meetings, providing members with practical information, valuable resources, and opportunities to learn from subject matter experts. This year's sessions covered a diverse range of topics and were selected in consultation with the Town and Village Caucus representatives for each region. These sessions aim to equip municipal leaders with knowledge and tools they can apply in their communities, while also encouraging discussion on current issues and emerging opportunities facing municipalities across the province.

Regional discussions provided attendees with an opportunity to connect with SUMA staff and fellow municipal leaders to discuss shared challenges, emerging opportunities, and issues affecting their communities. These conversations encouraged participants to exchange ideas, ask questions, and learn from one another's experiences while exploring potential solutions and pathways forward. In addition to discussing regional priorities, attendees participated in fact-finding discussions on the Regional Transportation Committees and Regional Municipal Governance Committees. These sessions provided valuable feedback and insight that will help inform future conversations and initiatives in these areas.

From the warm welcomes and engaging conversations to the community tours and local success stories, every stop on the Regional Roadshow reinforced what makes Saskatchewan's municipalities so special. We appreciate the time, effort, and enthusiasm that members brought to each meeting and are thankful for the opportunity to learn from communities across the province. We look forward to returning, reconnecting, and continuing these important conversations in the years ahead.
