The Government of Saskatchewan announced yesterday that the revenue sharing program for 2016-17 will continue as one point of the PST (collected two years ago), with a total pool of more than $271 million. This is a roughly two per cent increase over last year's revenue sharing amount. Funding will be allocated from the total pool to the sectors as follows:
- Cities: 47.945 per cent
- Towns and Villages: 16.345 per cent
- North: 7.456 per cent
- Rural: 28.254 per cent
A detailed breakdown of the funding is available on the Government of Saskatchewan website.
“Our cities, towns, villages, and northern communities are grateful for the predictable funding delivered through revenue sharing, and for the partnership this funding represents,” SUMA (SUMA) President Deb Button said. “We rely on these dollars to fund our operations, and to foster and sustain the incredible growth our communities have seen in recent years.”
