Why a Focus Group?
After each convention, SUMA sends out a survey asking for convention delegate feedback. The survey is a great way to know what delegates think immediately after convention. SUMA's Convention Planning Committee reads every comment and uses the information to drive decisions for future events.
However, a survey can't capture attitudes, feelings, beliefs, experiences, or reactions like a conversation can. A focus group helps SUMA gain a better understanding of Convention from a members' perspective by discussing issues identified in the delegate survey, introducing potential changes for feedback, and inviting new ideas to improve convention.
The Details
The focus group for Convention 2025 will meet virtually in August 2024.
After the meeting, a report detailing the focus group discussions will be taken to the Convention Planning Committee. The Committee will then use the information to guide their decisions for Convention 2025.
The focus group is open to elected officials and administration from SUMA member municipalities who are interested in sharing ideas and feedback to help shape Convention 2025.
Spaces in the focus group are limited. Members will be chosen randomly, with consideration given to ensure that different sectors and regions are represented.
