Resolution
Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA request that the Government of Saskatchewan recognize the urgency of this dire situation and establish a planned and concerted attack in the 2011/12 Budget to resolve the lack of rental accommodation in the province that would include: > Grant per door of rental units constructed similar to the Provincial Rental Suites Program. > Grant to 1st time home buyers to allow movement out of existing rental stock
Provincial Response
Government announced that it is committing nearly 34 million dollars in funding for the development of rental units and the rejuvenation of existing rental stock. SHC is currently working with various communities to identify and prioritize the projects that will result from this new funding.
