Increase prize threshold for local authority issued lottery licences

Year: 2013

Resolution

Whereas The Alcohol and Gaming Regulations, 1997 limit the maximum value of prize amounts of local authority issued lottery licences to $1,000.00; and Whereas local charities who operate under licences issued by the local authority would like to offer a higher prize amount; Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA lobby the Minister of Crown Investments to increase the maximum prize limit for a local authority issued lottery license threshold from $1,000.00 to $2,500.00.

Provincial Response

The Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority has asked her officials to review this matter. This particular limit has been in place for many years and therefore a review is appropriate.
