Extension of the Municipal Recycling Bridge Funding Program

Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA request the Ministry of Environment to extend the Municipal Recycling Bridge Funding Program for Paper and Cardboard with additional funding until the full implementation of the MMRP.
Provincial Response
We also recognize that municipal recycling efforts conserve natural resources and reduce the use of valuable landfill space. A total of $3.75 million in bridge funding has been provided through the Go Green Fund over the last two years to sustain recycling programs in Saskatchewan through the economic downturn. Bridge funding for 2011-12 is being considered along with other government priorities as part of the budget development process.
