Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA work in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, the Municipal Capacity Development Program and all other appropriate departments and agencies to assist in developing a strategy for the implementation of a multi-use pipeline to the region to ensure a viable and sustainable water supply for our future.
Provincial Response
Response: The Government of Saskatchewan appreciates that a high quality water supply is essential in protecting human health and sustaining economic development in the province. The province also supports municipalities planning for the future, including the operation and maintenance of future water supplies. The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is the lead agency on water allocations and Mr.Don Dill, Regional Manager in the Swift Current office maybe contacted. If such a proposal were to proceed to the planning stage it would also need to be evaluated to determine whether an environmental assessment would be required.
