Charging Residents for Fire-fighting Services

Be it resolved that SUMA lobby the provincial government to amend the Urban Municipality Act, Section 136, to enable municipalities to charge a fee for fire fighting services provided to residents within the municipality, and to collect unpaid accounts by adding them to property taxes, where the service is provided by the resident’s own municipality or by a fire department from outside the municipality.
