Saskatchewan residents located in the southern part of the province have a new way to get information about criminal activity in their area directly from RCMP.
The Government of Saskatchewan and RCMP, in partnership with SUMA, the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities, and the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations, have launched the Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory Network. Through the network, the RCMP and its partner agencies have the ability to communicate directly with the public on matters of crime prevention and community safety. Citizens can sign up to receive crime watch advisories from their local RCMP detachments by text message, email, or phone.
By receiving advisories and reporting crimes or suspicious activities, residents can help foster resilient hometowns that proactively prevent crime, enhancing public safety.
The system also supports crime prevention groups like Citizens on Patrol and Neighbourhood Watch. The RCMP and its partner agencies can use the system to communicate directly with these groups. To find out how your local crime prevention program can be supported by the mass notification system, contact your local RCMP detachment.
