You're invited to participate in the Treaty Learning Journey: Let's Talk Truth (TLJ) facilitated by the Office of the Treaty Commissioner (OTC) on November 16 and 17. Tailored to SUMA members and municipalities in Saskatchewan, this two-day virtual training is designed to deepen participants' understanding of First Nations communities, Treaties, and our collective role in strengthening Treaty relationships.

Morning sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and afternoon sessions will run from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Through four engaging sessions, participants will explore the historical and contemporary context of Treaty relationships in Saskatchewan:

• Before Treaty: Worldview and Indigeneity - Learn about First Nations history, cultures, worldviews, and protocols.
• At Treaty: Treaties - Explore the history of Treaty making, the spirit and intent of Treaties, and the significance of the Numbered Treaties.
• After Treaty: Breaching Treaty - Learn about the impacts of the Indian Act, residential schools, and the Natural Resources Transfer Agreements (NRTA) on Treaty relationships.
• Today: Contemporary Treaty Issues - Discuss current First Nations issues, Truth and Reconciliation, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and opportunities municipal leaders have to strengthen relationships moving forward.

Participants will receive:

• A digital Treaty Learning Journey: Let's Talk Truth certificate from the Office of the Treaty Commissioner. (Must attend all 4 sessions to receive the certificate.)
• A comprehensive digital resource guide to support ongoing learning and reflection.
• Valuable knowledge and tools to help build stronger relationships with Indigenous communities and advance reconciliation efforts within your municipality and beyond.
