SUMA is inviting proposals for education sessions during the 2027 SUMA Convention and Tradeshow at TCU Place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan April 4 to 7.
Why Present?
Being a presenter is an outstanding way to share your knowledge and expertise, leading to professional visibility, recognition, credibility, and influence in the future of Saskatchewan’s urban municipalities. We encourage municipalities with established best practices or partnerships to consider submitting a presentation proposal. Presenting at the SUMA Convention provides:
- Exposure for the resources and services offered by you and your organization.
- A chance to elevate the knowledge base of Saskatchewan’s municipal leaders.
- Networking opportunities.
- Opportunity to build relationships with SUMA, the voice of Saskatchewan’s urban municipalities.
Sessions are recorded and are available to SUMA members on the SUMA member portal following the event.

Session Format and Objectives
SUMA is looking for innovative and engaging presentations that will captivate the audience. We encourage submissions outlining presentations that go beyond the lecture format and incorporate participation from the audience through group work, polling, question and answer, tangible resources, and any other ideas you have. Sessions are 1 to 1.25 hours in length.
The theme for the 2027 SUMA Convention and Tradeshow is We are URBAN. In Saskatchewan, urban is more than cities. From villages and towns in rural and remote regions to major urban centres, urban municipalities share a common responsibility: delivering the infrastructure, services, and programs we depend on every day. Urban municipalities drive economic growth, support community well-being, and work alongside partners to address challenges and create solutions. Submissions should aim to share solutions and amplify the voice of the cities, towns, villages, resort villages, and northern municipalities of Saskatchewan. We are seeking sessions that reflect an understanding of Saskatchewan’s urban municipal landscape and the challenges of urban municipalities of all sizes.
We are open to topic suggestions; however, we have identified the following topics as main concerns to urban municipal governments this year:
- Funding for small municipalities
- Good Governance
- Regional Cooperation
- Collaboration with First Nations
- Emergency preparedness
- Housing development for small communities
- Community Engagement
- Reframing common municipal issues
- Infrastructure and asset management
- Environmental considerations
- Community Safety
