Who? For all mayors in our wonderful province. This workshop is geared towards mayors; however, we will accept registration from deputy mayors with one stupulation: the mayor of the municipality must send a direct email to Katee Galandy giving the deputy mayor's name and approving their attendance.
What? A two-and-a-half-day workshop that will provide entertaining team-building activities, exciting guest speakers, and problem solving with your peers. All meals are included in the registration fee except Monday night’s dinner. Dress code is casual.
The draft agenda is now available! It will be updated as more details become available so keep refreshing the link for more information.
Where? Almost everything takes place at the University of Regina campus. The actual workshop sessions will take place in the Education Auditorium 106.1 Lecture Theatre. SUMA has arranged the option for you to stay right on campus at the University of Regina's new residence (Kisik Towers). These private dorms consist of a bed, desk, and your own private washroom.
When? Check in starts at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20, and the last session will wrap up around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22.
Why? SUMA is focused on providing valuable educational opportunities to our members through workshops, meetings, summits, and the annual convention. Mayors play a vital role in Saskatchewan’s urban governments, and equipping members with the best tools and knowledge available to fulfill this role to their very best of their capabilities is important to us. The Mayors Summer School is the first of its kind offered in the Canada! Sharing ideas, brainstorming, and networking with fellow mayors will undoubtedly strengthen your role as an elected official.
