On Friday, March 28, 2014, the Government of Canada launched the New Building Canada Fund (NBCF) – a $14 billion, 10-year plan to invest in provincial, territorial, and municipal infrastructure.
Under the NBCF, there are three components that total $14 billion over 10 years.
- The National Infrastructure Component – $4 billion/10 years
- The Provincial/Territorial Infrastructure Component – $9 billion/10 years
- The Small Communities Component – $1 billion/10 years
At this time the NBCF is only accepting applications for the National Infrastructure Component. Negotiations are still ongoing to finalize the application process and funding agreements for the Provincial/Territorial and Small Communities Components. SUMA will continue to monitor progress and immediately notify members of any new developments.
More information on the National Infrastructure Component application process is available on the Infrastructure Canada website.
