Town of Osler Seeks Chief Administrative Officer
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
- Foster a healthy, efficient, and innovative workplace that values safety, teamwork, and service excellence.
- Provide strategic leadership to administration, ensuring operations align with Council’s goals and priorities.
- Mentor and support staff development, including succession planning.
- Maintain a strong, transparent working relationship with Council built on trust, communication, and collaboration.
- Support Council with timely reports, recommendations, and advice on operational, legislative, and strategic matters.
Financial Management
- Work with the Chief Financial Officer to prepare and monitor annual operating and capital budgets.
- Ensure all provincial and federal financial reporting requirements are met.
- Provide advice on municipal assets, investments, and debentures.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities to support Council’s priorities.
Administration & Development
- Oversee capital projects, infrastructure, and municipal services to meet community needs.
- Lead long-term planning for land use, economic development, and capital investment.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and programs are current, effective, and compliant with legislation.
- Recruit and retain qualified, service-oriented staff to deliver quality municipal services.
Legislative Responsibilities
- Implement Council’s decisions efficiently and effectively.
- Attend Council and committee meetings as required.
- Interpret and apply The Municipalities Act and other applicable legislation.
- Ensure alignment between Council’s strategic plan and administrative practices.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
Qualifications
- Standard Certificate issued by the Urban Board of Examiners
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field
- Experience as a CAO or in a senior municipal administrative role preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills
Compensation The Town of Osler offers a competitive salary based on education and experience, aligned with UMAAS Salary Guidelines, plus a full benefits package and participation in MEPP.
