What You'll Be Doing:
As the Foreperson, you’ll lead a team, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Your day-to-day will include:
- Supervise and execute the planning and completion of maintenance projects.
- Leading a team by providing guidance, training, and mentoring.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Town of Pense Public Works Foreperson
The Town of Pense is seeking a full-time permanent foreperson to manage and oversee the maintenance and operations of the public works department. This is both a supervisory and hands on role that ensures the efficient functioning of water & wastewater systems and infrastructure, roads, and equipment.
Start Date: Flexible, Ideally May 1st, 2025
Permanent Full-time 40 hrs per week, flexible scheduling based on operational requirements, evening and weekends when necessary.
Compensation: $30-34/hour based on qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits and pension program.
Location: Pense, SK
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Supervision: Direct, manage, and monitor Public Works staff. Plan daily operatiolns and ensure all equipment is maintained and operating effectively.
- Water and Wastewater Operations: daily checks of water works and lift station, system maintenance, and permit compliance and reporting.
- Road and Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of municipal roads, alleys, parks, and municipal buildings. Conduct routine inspections and complete minor maintenance.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain equipment as needed, such as grader, tractors, mowers and other municipal machinery.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies to ensure the safety of roads and infrastructure.
- Budget and Planning: Assist the CAO in preparing the departmental budget, monitor expenses, and ensure operations are within approved policies and procedures.
- Reporting and Administration: Prepare monthly reports for Council, attend Council meetings, and keep accurate records.
- Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, provide safety training for staff, and investigate any workplace incidents.
- Other duties as directed by the CAO.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years experience supervising in a public works environment.
- Minimum Class 5 Drivers license, Class 3A considered an asset or willingness to achieve.
- Level 1 Certification Water Treatment & Distribution and Wastewater or willingness to achieve.
- Other certifications such as Powered Mobile Equipment Operator, First Aid/CPR, confined space, ground disturbance, pesticide applicator are considered an asset.
- Strong management, record-keeping, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Must be reliable and trustworthy. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Physically able to perform manual labour and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
