The Role Municipalities Play in Supporting Co-operatives
March 17, 2026 - 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Online
Municipalities across Saskatchewan are facing real pressure on housing, childcare, local businesses, and access to services. Many communities are turning to co-operatives as a practical, locally owned way to respond. On Tuesday March 17 at 10:00 a.m. join us for the webinar The Role Municipalities Play in Supporting Co-operatives to hear from Co-operatives First as they share real examples of how co-operatives have worked in small towns and larger centres, and the role municipalities and Economic Development Officers played in making those projects possible. Examples include childcare, housing, community investment, and saving local businesses. Municipal leaders will leave with:
- A clear picture of how municipal leadership shapes co-op success
- Practical ways councils and EDOs can reduce barriers and support community-led projects
- Simple steps municipalities can take to support co-operatives in their community
This session is designed with communities under 5,000 in mind, while also offering tools and ideas that larger municipalities can adapt to their local context.
