Improved Cellular Phone Coverage for Northern Saskatchewan

Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA lobby Saskatchewan Telecommunications to upgrade the present service across the north and to provide cell phone coverage to all Northern communities as well as the surrounding rural areas.
Provincial Response
Response: In May 2009, as part of the Rural Infrastructure Program, SaskTel announced it would expand and improve cellular service over three years by adding 55 new digital cellular sites across the province for $48 million. Upon completion, 98% of the population could receive cellular service. Nine out of the 55 locations are north of North Battleford and Prince Albert. The new digital sites are: Big Beaver, Saskatoon Corman Park, Fox Valley East, Shaunavon South, Shaunavon West, Red Wing, Qu’Appelle, Sturgis, Stockholm, Manitou Beach, Vangaurd, Whitkow. Young, Spy Hill/Carlton Trails, Dahinda, Spring Valley, Cloan North Hwy #40, Crooked Lake, Arelle, Biggar Northeast, Ceylon South, Bertwell, Bjorkdale, Candle Lake Northwest, Crooked River, MacDowall, Mildred, Belbutte, Mistatim, Praire River, Reserve, Lac Peltier, Echo Lake/Archerwill, Endeavour, Limerick, Mankota West, St. Victor, Buchanan, Hazel Dell, Willowbrook, Cedoux, Alvena, Anerley/Dinsmore, Coteau Hills, Plato, Rapid View, North St. Walburg, Bittern Lake/Anglin Lake, Carrot Creek, South La Ronge, Montreal Lake, Englefield, Sturgeon River, Weyakwin/Ramsey Bay, Lipps Beach.
