SUMA is excited to bring back summer school exclusively for Saskatchewan mayors! Wherever you are this summer, be a part of this unique experience that will build your leadership, knowledge, and confidence in your role.

There won't be a dull moment in the schedule as we cover topics including running effective council meetings, strategic planning, municipal law, public relations and media, leadership and governance, municipal best practices in tourism, and governing without administering.

Our presenters include:

Ian McCormack, CMC
President, Strategic Steps Inc.

Strategic Steps President Ian McCormack has a broad range of experience including work in government. In addition to being nationally accredited as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), Ian is also certified as a change management practitioner.

On top of occasionally writing for Municipal World on topics as diverse as business planning for local governments and how to measure community well-being, McCormack is an author in his own right, having his first book, Who’s Driving the Grader and Other Governance Questions, published in 2020. The book focuses on the principles of good governance.

Strategic Steps focuses on complex, independent work within the local government realm. The company works on many projects that include governance reviews, strategy development and implementation, council orientations, municipal compensation, policy and ordinance updates, and audits and reviews that help local governments get back on track.
