Call for Proposals: SUMA Impact Initiative

The Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) is inviting proposals for the SUMA Impact Initiative during the 2026 SUMA Convention and Tradeshow in Regina, Saskatchewan, April 12 to 15.  

The SUMA Impact Initiative is a new program designed to foster lasting impact through mutual support, community connection, and educational outreach. This funding and outreach opportunity is exclusively available to registered non-profit and community-based organizations operating within Saskatchewan. Priority will be given to organizations with a province-wide mandate. 

This call is open from November 4 to December 2, 2025. 


Who attends Convention?


Approximately 1,000 delegates attend the SUMA Convention, including elected officials, city managers, and chief administration officers from cities, towns, villages, resort villages, and northern municipalities throughout Saskatchewan. The annual Convention is an event where municipal decision makers come to network, share leading practices, and find collaborative partners to support their communities.  


Eligibility


This opportunity is exclusively available to registered non-profit and community-based organizations operating within Saskatchewan that are in need of additional financial and/or community support. Organizations such as professional associations, trade groups, or member-funded entities that do not rely primarily on external donations or grants for operational viability are not eligible. 

 

All submitted proposals will be reviewed and evaluated based on the following criteria: 

  • Potential impact for Saskatchewan communities. 

  • Alignment with SUMA’s current advocacy priorities. 

  • Consistency with the goals and values of the SUMA Impact Initiative. 

SUMA reserves the sole and absolute right to determine the final selection of successful proposals. Decisions will be made at the discretion of SUMA leadership and are not subject to appeal. SUMA may request additional information from applicants during the review process and retains the right to reject any proposal that does not meet eligibility or submission requirements. An organization cannot be selected in consecutive years. 

 

Support and Visibility Provided by SUMA


If selected, your organization will receive the following support and recognition during the 2026 SUMA Convention and Tradeshow: 

  • Guaranteed donation: SUMA will provide a donation of $1,500. 

  • Promotion of your organization and fundraising efforts: SUMA will promote your organization’s presence throughout the Convention and facilitate additional donations via a dedicated QR code. 100% of the funds collected through this method will be transferred directly to your organization. 

  • Table space: SUMA will provide a designated space in the Convention lobby for your organization to share information and deliver hands-on training to delegates. This space will be available on Monday April 13, 2026. 

  • Formal acknowledgement: Your organization, the fundraiser, and the training initiative will be verbally acknowledged during the President’s Gala on Tuesday evening. 

 

Participation Commitments


The organization selected for the SUMA Impact Initiative are required to fulfill the following obligations: 

  • Table staffing - Your organization must have a minimum of two representatives present on Monday April 13, 2026 to share information about your organization and provide short hands-on education to delegates who visit the booth. 

  • Education - Your organization must deliver a brief, hands-on educational activity to delegates who visit the booth. The activity must be practical, accessible, and relevant to community well-being or safety. Examples of acceptable offerings include, but are not limited to: 

  • Naloxone training 

  • Hands only CPR training 

  • Fire response techniques 

  • EpiPen administration 

  • Tourniquet application 

  • Mental health first aid 

  • Conflict de-escalation strategies 

  • Optional: Take away Item - Organizations may provide one relevant take-away item to delegates who complete the educational activity. This item should directly reinforce the training provided. Acceptable items include, but are not limited to: 

  • Informational cards summarizing key steps or procedures 

  • Safety tools or resources related to the training topic
