Resolution
Whereas "The Provincial Health Authority Act “allows for the continuation and creation of community advisory networks to provide the new Authority with information and advice on specific community perspectives, trends, issues and priorities regarding health services”; and
Whereas Community Health Advisory Networks (CHANS) were mandated in the former Regional Health Services Act; and
Whereas municipalities are informed by their residents about the issues and needs in their communities, that the health system may not be aware of;
Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA (SUMA) advocate the Minister of Health to ensure direct municipal input and involvement in the health system by requiring Community Health Advisory Networks to be established throughout the province, under The Provincial Health Authority Act.
