Year: 2020
Resolution
Whereas revenue sharing is designated to assist urban and rural municipalities with unconditional financial assistance to provide services such as recreational facilities, libraries, museums, community centres, and playgrounds; and
Whereas these facilities provide service to both urban and rural residents, but are usually paid for, maintained, and operated by urban councils; and
Whereas costs for these facilities should be shared between urban and rural municipalities;
Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA advocate the Government of Saskatchewan to change revenue sharing criteria for rural municipalities, to have 95 per cent provided unconditionally and 5 per cent conditionally, to be used to assist urban municipalities with recreational facility costs.
