Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA lobby the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment to mandate that municipal representation on the SRO be proportional to their required financial contributions.
Provincial Response
Response: The Government of Saskatchewan appreciates the value of having SUMA members participate on the Multi-Material Recycling Program (MMRP) Project Advisory Committee and in recycling operations across the province. We continue to work towards the finalization and implementation of a province-wide MMRP as a long-term recycling funding solution, consistent with the Extended Producer Responsibility principle. We understand SUMA's position of proportional representation on the Steward Responsibility Organization and will be strongly considering that position as we move forward.
