Reduction of Carbon Emissions in Rural Saskatchewan
Year: 2016
Resolution
Whereas climate change is a critical environmental factor facing the future of this planet; and
Whereas there are several man-made factors which contribute to climate change of which the creation of excess carbon is one; and
Whereas the availability of safe, clean air is becoming a serious concern for residents, especially seniors, during many intervals over the course of a year; and
Whereas, the burning of garbage refuse in urban centres is prohibited; and
Whereas the Government of Saskatchewan has invested over a billion dollars in carbon capture technology; and further, since the province in concert with other provinces and the federal government, is being proactive in setting goals to regulate emissions;
Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA advocate with the Government of Saskatchewan to introduce, pass, and enact the required legislation to reduce the burning of stubble in Saskatchewan.
