Establishing a Multi-Material Stewardship Program

Resolution
Therefore be it resolved that SUMA lobby the Provincial Government to develop a complete multi-material stewardship program that would assist municipalities with the cost of recycling multi-material commodities such as, but not limited to, paper, plastics, glass and tin.
Provincial Response
Response: The Ministry of Environment is currently working on the development of a Solid Waste Management plan to deal with a host of issues regarding solid waste management. As part of the plan, the ministry is developing a Multi-Material Recycling Program that will include paper, plastic, glass and tin stream components.
