Providing Compensation for Complying With New Standards
Year: 2008
Resolution
Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA requests that the organization or government entity requiring the information provide compensation for compliance.
Provincial Response
Response: • A challenge that governments at all levels face is our collective obligation to govern together for our common pUblic. To do so often requires that information be shared among governments. • The provincial government requests information from municipalities to assist in developing both provincial programs and support to meet municipal needs. In other cases, information is required to meet regulatory reporting requirements, such as those related to matters of public health. • The provincial government would not support paying compensation for information required to assist municipalities or on their compliance with regulatory standards.
