Closing of Highway Maintenance Shops

Resolution
Therefore be it resolved that SUMA demand the Department of Highways and Transportation reaffirm their commitment to not closing any existing Highway Maintenance or satellite shops, and to maintain current staffing levels in all shops.
Provincial Response
Response: Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation has no plans to close any maintenance sections at the present time. Despite any rumors to the contrary, the department has no approved plan to eliminate maintenance sections over the medium or long term. The department remains committed to providing a high level of winter and summer maintenance that is consistent across the 26,000 km provincial highway system and delivered in the most efficient manner possible.
