Amendment to SAMA Board of Directors

Year: 2007

Resolution

Therefore be it resolved that the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency Act be amended to reinstate that one of the two persons appointed to the SAMA board pursuant to clause 6(1) (b) must be nominated to represent urban municipalities with a population less than 30,000.

Provincial Response

Resolution: The Assessment Management Agency Act (the Act) stipulates that one of the two persons nominated by the SUMA board of directors to be appointed to the SAMA board must be nominated to represent cities with a population exceeding 30,000. Past versions of the Act have not stated that one of the SUMA appointees to the SAMA board must be from an urban municipality with a population of than 30,000. Nothing precludes the SAMA board from nominating the second person to represent urban and northern municipalities with a population of less than 30,000. This is a matter internal to the operations of SUMA and could be addressed through a SUMA policy.
