Fine Revenues for Urban Municipalities

Therefore be it resolved that the SUMA request that the provincial government change its policy and enable all urban municipalities to receive their rightful share of revenues from fines levied within their jurisdiction.
Provincial Response
Response: I can advise officials from Saskatchewan Justice and Saskatchewan Government Relations reviewed this matter and a proposal to expand distribution of fine revenues to all municipalities was considered by Treasury Board as part of the 2007-2008 budget cycle. However there were a number of competing priorities for limited funding and this proposal was not approved.
