The City of Melville invites applications from qualified persons for the position of Controller.

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Controller holds a key leadership position in the Finance Department for the City of Melville.  The Controller has the responsibility to work in close collaboration with the Director to plan, direct, manage and oversee the financial affairs of the City of Melville ensuring compliance to all legislative and regulatory requirements in a prudent, economical and fiscally responsible manner to ensure the financial stability of the City. Education and Experience:
• A degree/certification with a major in accounting or finance supplemented by a minimum of three years directly related the experience in finance related to municipal operations.  Consideration may be given for an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

• Accounting Designation is preferred but will also consider an accounting technician with good experience.
• Local Government Administration or other related coursework in municipal government operations and financing.
• Formal training in computer operations, information systems, project management and general office administration. 

Salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. The successful candidate must maintain a clear criminal record check and be bondable.
